I am getting closer to making a desicion about moving and have a few questions. About utilities, like for a 2 bedroom apt what would elecrtic (w/AC) and say Cable/DSL (if you guys even have that) run me a month. Food for one person, gas????? just so I have an idea.

At the moment, since our electric supplier is trying to increase rates, the power bill on a 2 bdrm AC unit of moderate size would likely be about $350 mo. [my humble estimate since it is a touchy subject] - Cable with some premium channels about $75 mo. - DSL if available about $100 mo. but some options are available for less - food for one person with minimal dining out but including normal household supplies $20 day - gas is $4.75 a Gal. average on STT a bit cheaper on STX more on STJ so depending on your mpg car and distance. It is extreeeemely difficult to predict food and lifestyle costs from a distance but the utilities are probably about right - you may have water costs, cell phone, rent?, as well.

My land line & DSL costs $72.32 (Innovative). Expanded basic cable $53.50. This is on STT. I have a 2 BR without A/C & my last electric bill with the increase & keeping in mind that I pay an even higher rate (.48/kwh) was $189.12. I also have a washer/dryer. However, I have a small under the kitchen sink water heater that only gets turned on for washing towels & bathing. I'm also just 1 person in the unit.

Don't know what to tell you on the food. All depends on what you eat, how much you cook, etc.

exitzero...does your 350 per month for a/c reflect running a/c in the bedroom only at night?

As I said it is an estimate -- My house doesn't use AC and our Wapa bill is about $125 a mo.

3 Bedroom house, 2 adults, no air conditioning, the last three months WAPA have been $200, $175, $230. I think the drop in the $200 to $175 is because I replaced two very old ceiling fans with energy efficient ones. The increase from $175 to $230, we had company for a few days, and the rate went up.

Energy costs don't really vary much between summer and winter. Temps are about the same, humidity is higher in summer.
