Hi Everyone - We need to get over to Jamaica to visit some friends, but the only logical way we've found so far is to take American back to Miami and go from there. Is there another route that I am missing? or a charter that we should look into.

Many thanks as always,
Kim

Hi Kim,

Check with Mike Foster, at Coastal Air. It's probably too far for him to fly, but he'll be able to tell you if anyone can/will fly there.

I travel to Jamaica frequently from the VI.... From STX or STT, the only way is to go to Miami and back, about $700. Or overnight in St. Maarten or Antigua which ends up being more expensive. Jamaica is about 800 miles away so I am not sure if it is within the range of a small plane charter.

portions of jamaica were under martial law over the weekend... i believe air flight is limited as well.

Thanks all!! Everyone is helpful as usual!

Anita - We're not planning to go until either later this year or next Spring, so hopefully all will be calm again there. Luckily our friends mostly live on the West End of the island where the political issues are usually less violent.

You have discovered one of the things that needs to get better here. Air travel in the Caribbean is difficult and expensive.
Connections are difficult and the cost per mile is way out of line. Check out the small carriers, but most of them do not offer flights that are direct or affordable.
