Hi all i am curious if many residents play golf regularly? Also am wondering if residents get some kind of discount as opposed to the tourist rates?

Beat you to it Spartygrad - the OP is moving to STT. 😀

Yes, it's very popular and there's quite a following here on STT:

They offer memberships I know for locals. I'm not on that side of operations but Thursdays and Saturdays are very local heavy golf days.

I honestly do not know about local discounts but I will ask. I don't pay or else I wouldn't play.

I'm sure I could play more, but honestly I have a little toddler and after working 50++ hours a week the last thing on my mind is golf. I've played 4x in 11 months.

Sorry about the above post. Don't know what I did. Anyway, what island is this on? We should be making the move in the next few months and the hubby LOVES golf and would love to get a job at a resort.

As said on this thread (and as indicated on the link), Mahogany Run is on STT where the OP is moving to. If you're moving to STX I believe there are three golf courses there.

On STX, there are three golf courses. The Buccaneer and Carambola Golf Course both offer discounts for residents for golf at certain times of the season. I don't know the details but they can certainly save you some $$.

Straight off Carambola website shown below. As a side, the wife doesn't play and Carambola charges $20 for a rider. The Buccaneer is $55 for 18 w/cart resident (no charge for rider). Haven't played the 9 hole Reef course yet but people say it's not in too good shape.

Greens Fees
Rates for May 1 - October 31
20% discount for all active military personnel & juniors under 17.

18 Hole With Cart Walking
Off-Island Guest $105 $70
VI Resident* $65 $40

9 Hole With Cart Walking
Off-Island Guest $70 $55
VI Resident* $55 $25

*Proof of residency required to receive local rates.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, the rates for VI Residents are
$50 for 18-holes or $40 for 9-holes, cart included.
Afternoon, the rate drops to $40 for 18-holes with cart.

Rates for November 1 - April 30
20% discount for all active military personnel & juniors under 17.

18 Hole With Cart Walking
