Good Grub UNDER $10

Ive been on the forum a little while and have seen the threads for good food, but I wanted to get a thread going for good grub (not fast food) under $10. I don't think most of us like to go out and dole out $80 for dinner so with that in mind I'd like to see what everyone comes up with. It doesn't have to be 5 star dishes or anything, just good food at a good price.

1. Please put what Island, the name and location, phone # if you have it
2. MUST be $10.00 or under
3. Should be an entree, but I think a large appetizer can qualify
Post pics if you have them. I'll get started:

Fish Tacos (2) $9
STT: Hull Bay Hideaway (Hull Bay-Northside)

Taquitos (4) $9
STT: Greengos (across from Belgian chocolate factory)

Gyros $10
STT: Tickles Dockside Pub

Only have a pic of the taquitos.

Fatty's and Big Bamboo in Red Hook do $5 burgers, and Fatty's adds chicken and BBQ sandwiches. Off the Grid at the top of Sapphire beach and the Texas BBQ place next to Duffy's has full meals for $10 and less (Fresh cut meat and 2 sides). Taco Hell next to Texas BBQ has $2 tacos all the time (4 of them is more than a meal hehe). Molly Malone's has an app menu everyday from 4-7 with select apps for $4.50 (2 of those is a meal). Coco Blue in Red Hook has $5 sushi rolls (the whole roll!) for Happy Hour. I don't know much about the other Happy Hours on the island but there is always a place with a good happy hour to get fed on the cheap. Some of the bars start anther happy hour at 10pm.

Linda J, I think it is a half chicken with 2 Johnny cakes. It's now $5.50 which is still awesome.
You can also get the half chicken meal for $9.50 which includes half a chicken, rice and beans and a small salad.
They sometimes have a meatloaf dinner for $10 at the chicken shack. I think it's on Wed.

also the kmart west has a great breakfast sandwich for about 3 bucks. to me those are both meals. i dont eat much at one time.

Hard to beat the hot counter at Plaza Extra on STT. Under $8 for a HUGE plate of food which easily serves two and which I can get 3 meals out of. Big selection of meat, fish, chicken and starches, veggies, vegetarian dishes, soups ... and all very tasty. Those Latino ladies in the back know how to put together good seasoned comfort grub!!!

THANKS! I know where I'm going to try next week lol. I like red hook a lot, just walking around but all the food I saw was $$$, it will be nice to try these out!

If you work downtown STT there is a woman at the back of tent city that makes totally decent hamburgers for $6.

3 Good-sized tacos at Big Kahuna downtown for $9.

Lately I'm trying to go back to eating healthy and working out regularly but with the closing of Subway on Main St I'm at a loss for where to find cheap healthy(ish) food that is filling, I've been eating crap for too long. I know Bumpa's makes chicken salads that are pretty cheap but any suggestions anyone has would be great.

Pasta Go Go in Royal Dane Mall has DELICIOUS pasta and paninis for $6. Breakfast all day. Gorgeous place and they give you stainless flatware instead of plastic. Only open during the week.

Most of the food trucks qualify.

The Chinese restaurants have meals $10 and under.

Most of the menu at Cariga's at Independent Boat Yard (St Thomas) is under $10. Fish tacos are my favorite, but they make some other items. I just never try them.;)

I thought that the Christiansted Post Office was on Company Street next to the market. And Zenys is on Queen Street next to the market.

Dog House Pub on STT - almost the entire menu is under $10 and everything I've had there is delicious! Can't beat their $5 burgers ($6 w/ cheese) and their beer selection is awesome!

Shipwreck Tavern on STT (right across the parking lot from Dog House) has $8-$10 burger special on Fridays - haven't been there in a while, but their burgers are HUGE and there are several different topping options, can also get a veggie patty.

Yea I've been to doghouse many times for drinks. I've also ordered good but found it realllllllly greasy and always feel like crap afterwards. I do like shipwrecks painkillers. Whoa, they're strong!

Glad to hear someone else doesn't feel well after Dog House. I hear lots of people saying it's good, but tried it twice and won't go back.

Need to give a shout to Blues BBQ on STX. Yesterday I stopped by and was ready to get a brisket sandwich which is good but he told me his BBQ chicken was fresh off the grill. Best chicken I've ever had. Dry rubbed well seasoned 1/2 a chicken (larger than Le Reine), choice of side (black eyed peas salad was good) and a biscuit for $10.

I agree 100%... Excellent service, great price, and awesome food... hard to beat those ribs, even if they are over $10... Every time I go to STX I go to Blues Back Yard... (tu)
