Hey Everyone! I know there is a very long post on here about STX restaurant ratings, but most of the post I'm seeing just comment about the types of food and how good it was. Not much info on the prices.

We just moved here a few weeks ago and have been out to eat a few times and was wondering what places you'd recommend based on kid friendly fare and reasonable pricing. I'll give a few examples of what I mean. When we first got here we were taken to Savant. While it's a nice place the food is definitely not kid friendly and the prices were, in our opinion, over the top, food not good enough to warrant pricing. We've also been to the Gallows(?), the restaurant at the Buccaneer. It was kid friendly as it had a kids menu, it had some reasonably priced menus items, and the food was excellent. And last but not least we got food the other night from Chocolate BBQ and took it home to eat. We got 1/2 a chicken, rice & beans, ribs, and soup for $18. Everyone loved it and the price was amazing.

We are a simple family. We are not into anything fancy or gourmet (no goat ravioli for me). Don't get me wrong, the hubby and I like to go out for a nice dinner now and again but right now we are looking for places to try out that the kids would like and won't break the bank. Think places similar to Chocolate and upwards similar to the Buccaneer (but a bit cheaper).

Thanks!

Chicken shack, Teres Veho and Palms at Pelican Cove (ask for the bar menu, not restaurant menu). All family friendly and good prices.

Seinie's Golden Rail, in the Mill Harbor Condo complex has $2.00 tacos on Wed. and $5.00 burgers, with fries, on Thurs. I don't know if there is an actual kids' menu, but things like chicken strips, etc..

Rumrunners in town, Maria's Mexican Cantina in Gallows Bay is always good and $2 tacos on Tuesdays, Mermaid on the Beach at the Buccaneer Hotel is nicest beach and moderate food prices.

Blue's Backyard BBQ is an excellent choice for great food at a good price and the kids love it! It is on Northside Rd. opposite the Progressive Vet Clinic.

For cheap, good takeout:
Singh's in Christiansted.
Rotisserie chicken from CostULess.
Packaged hot meals from Plaza Extra.

"Ital in Paradise" in downtown Christiansted probably has the highest quality to price ratio of any place I've been to on the island.

Even if you are not a vegan or vegetarien or pescatarien it is worth visiting. Just don't go too late as they seem to sell out early.
