To have Nelson amend his bill to acknowledge the obvious is obviously unnecessary.

And if the matter is so clear cut and so minor, the addition of a couple of simple sentences added to the bill would solve the problem.

except, there was no problem.

Why would you even think to include what is already covered? The bill didn't say you have to stop at a stop sign either, or pay your taxes...

but those should have been included too right?

you would have a great party with some really introspective conversation and maybe realize that empathy and compassion should be a bigger part of your life; edging out sarcasm and bitter humor.

or not...

Given the amounts spoke about in the bill I think you would get a ticket; since they said 1oz was a "small amount for personal use"

The bill is clear, Silly Rabbit.

If the total weed in the brownies combined is the lesser of one (1) ounce, and you were discovered, etc., then your penalty would be a fine. Duh.

Just out of curiosity, how much does an ounce of pot cost these days?

LOL. That's my point. Who will determine the content, and what method will be used to make that determination? Do the authorities have a cook book to determine that 1 lb. of brownies takes XX grams of pot? Same goes for all other pot edibles.

The going rate is $400 an ounce for good quality medicinal grade.

In the early 80s we thought $30/oz was high for a high!

So if you grow your own, you'd have to make sure you plant(s) don't weigh more than an ounce?

Yes, but the THC content is so high now that an ounce goes a very long way. It doesn't take much to get high these days.

It didn't take much back then. I'd be in a stupor.

THC is the only "recreational" substance that is physically impossible to overdose on (that is why there are still zero deaths due to overdose to this day).

So, while you may be in a stupor, at least it's a safe stupor and not potentially fatal (like alcohol, aspirin, ANYTHING a doctor prescribes, etc..)

This is part of the reason why I think alcohol and Cannabis should switch places in how they are treated; how many people die each year from alcohol poisoning(88,000 deaths)? Isn't just just one too many?

And here we are not fully supporting this type of bill, while nearly 100,000 lives could be saved.

Isn't the THC component that gets you high removed from medical marijauna?

The thc is not removed. Dispensaries charge whatever they want here in colorado an oz has gone down to about 250 at dispensaries and 180 on the street but that os legal here because its full blown legal here which would follow medical legalization. When medical was the only legal here you could grow 6 plants if you got your card and.could not be.taller than your fence so people didnt know or just grow inside a plant well grown could almost yeild an oz itself

Alana...you're thinking of industrial hemp. They breed the THC out of those cannabis strains.

Nope. Swear to God in the 70's you could by a kilo (2.2lbs) for $200.00. $20.00 would get you an oz. I'm too old and poor for that chit now.

That sounds right since I remember in the early 80s it was $30/oz for good stuff. Sunshinefun is only going back 20 years. Time flies!

It's called forensics. You know, organic chemistry. The same people who determine it now. The same cook books the authorities currently use to determine concentration and quantity and confirmation of substance, the methods, content determination, cook books all the same! We have always had the capacity to determine the amount. That is how you decide if they were doing personal use vs intent to distribute, vs trafficking. By amount. Aargh! Now p, while we are doing our usual time test qualitative/quantitative analysis and we realize that is less than an ounce IN TOTAl, then that is where it is ticket able, but not a crime.
Read the bill. THE ONLY THING THAT CHANGES IS THE PENALTY! This is not legalization.what part of that can you not understand? If you are a voter, we are in trouble.

A phrase coined by an ad agency for the UNCF but it must be horribly frustrating for you to slowly have yours eroded by continuously having to explain such rudiments to mere peons. Aargh indeed! If I made up a big batch of "special" calaloo which was seized, would I have a sustainable legal defense in claiming that the THC content in the sample used for forensic testing was falsely representative of the whole because I didn't stir the pot as well as I should have done?
