St. Croix checking to make sure seat belts are in place 50 yards down the street where ladies of the oldest profession stand.

On the other hand, very few people get killed while using a prostitute without a seatbelt!! Sorry it just popped into my mind.

Prostitution, drugs, is definitely way down on the list compared to the seat belt

The ones that require seat belts make a lot more money 😀

In order to get federal highway funds things like seat belt controls have to be in place. It's pretty stupid I know.

So a person can get screwed and then get screwed by the police department? I guess when they are giving the ticket a drug dealer can do a score? Is that how it works?

Prostitution should be legalized and regulated.

Seems pretty ridiculous with all the drugs and gang activity going on that their out giving tickets for seatbelts. I was driving through town with my wife on STT and we were stuck in traffic so I picked up my phone to check the time and a cop who had another car pulled over came up to me and read me the riot act asking me if I wanted a ticket! I was furious but just laughed and said no I don't want a ticket like a little kid. Priorities. Justin

The cops on STX gave me a break the other day. I was on the highway, I had stopped in an exit lane waiting for a green light, I realized I was at the wrong exit, and I pulled back onto the travel lanes without signaling and without waiting for a good long break in traffic. I pulled in with a semi-long break. The next car that came along was a cop. He'd seen me, and flipped on his siren, but he kept going past me.

Actually, I don't mind the roadblocks and having people stopped for seatbelts, tinting and using handheld cells. First of all, these are USVI laws and should be heeded. Secondly, using seatbelts and NOT using handheld phones really does save people from injury.

Our police force here is under trained and under equipped. To think that, if they were not making these traffic stops they would be out cracking (pun) down on drug dealers and solving murders is not correct. So I'd rather have them doing this than nothing.

I'm surprised this subject keeps coming on this board.

I thought it had been established that the traffic stops ARE one of the tools they use screen for criminals.

Criminals often have expired licenses and unlicensed vehicles. Seems like every week I read about the cops finding someone with an unlicensed firearm at one of their stops. Especially considering the other current thread here about the people who had their car stolen, only to discover that many stolen cars are hidden then used in crimes, I would think people here would be calling for MORE traffic stops.

I don't mind the traffic stops, either. I also don't mind the ladies of the oldest profession... pointing them out to guests is great entertainment. My boyfriend keeps jokingly threatening to stop and ask what the going rate is, and I keep telling him I'm pretty sure the local jail isn't a fun place to be. I don't know how anyone can drive here while on the phone, anyway. They must be more coordinated them I am!

I prefer the legal consumption of a beer while driving home after work on a Friday much more than I'd ever want to talk on my cell phone. I think that's one thing we got right 😎

What is curious to me is the black/faded plastic put over the back license plates. See it all over. Can't read them. Why have plates at all? That and the black tinted windows so you can't see the AK-47 pointing at you...

Just read a article in the news that police arrested two guys who were driving without seat belts in a car that was stolen at gun point a week ago.
Good Job!!!(tu)
