Hi everyone,
I just moved to St. Croix the beginning of August and just wanted to say hello to everyone on the board here. I've found a lot of useful information in your posts and look forward to chatting with you all.
I can't make it to the get together on the 14th, but I'll definately be up for one in October if everyone wants to.

Where did you move from? I hope you'll share your story with us -- I'm looking forward to getting to know you, and I'm sure many others who frequent this site are too.

Well, I moved down here site unseen from Jacksonville, Florida on July 27th. Back in April I was fortunate to get a job offer from the Department of Homeland Security and after bouncing around the place they were going to send me (it started out in Texas and ended up here), I finally got the go ahead. Most of the holdup was background check stuff. So, on July 21 I loaded all my stuff and my truck into a 40 foot container, and six days later I was here on St. Croix. I found an apartment I liked the following weekend, and while I'm still doing some unpacking, it's starting to feel like home. I think the worst part of the whole move was dealing with a vehicle and all the taxes and paperwork to move stuff here.
I'll write a more detailed account shortly as I'm sure you all are dying to hear about a person who could just up and move to the Carribbean for a job. LOL
I'm the Senior Network Administrator for Customs and Border Protection, so if anyone's coming to the airport let me know, that's where my office is. I'd also be more than happy to help out anyone that has computer problems or questions.

You're based at the airport? That's awesome! My husband Kelly and I fly to PR about every other month for a doctor's appointment, so you can count on us as regulars who drop in and say hello -- starting on October 4. 🙂
Sounds like you've got a terrific sense of adventure moving sight unseen - you've definitely landed in the right place. Can't wait to hear your story. There are a lot of folks who have posted plans to forsake a pre-move visit before they move down here -- I'm sure you have a large and interested audience waiting to hear how you did it and what you recommend to others.
While we'll miss seeing you on the 14th at Off the Wall, we always have October to look forward to.
