My small business is looking into providing our employees with health insurance. What insurance company has been the most reliable on island?

I have heard many good things about CIGNA, has anyone heard anything negative about CIGNA?

Any help is appreciated.

hi Dalmation
Haven't heard anything bad about CIGNA, in fact it is one of the best down here. The VI Govt uses CIGNA and therefore most (if not all) of the doctors down here accept CIGNA. Also CIGNA accepts the prices that the doctors charge here, which is usually higher than the mainland. There is a group called VI Equicare which sets the pricing here. United Healthcare and Amedex do not accept VI Equicare prices and consequently do not pay most claims incurred locally. Which is why most people with United and Amedex take "medical vacations" to see their stateside doctor who DO accept their insurance. I work for a small company of 10 people. We were able to switch to CIGNA last year because CIGNA now accepts smaller groups. Contact Baker Magras & Associates if you are on STT, they are the brokers who can hook you up with CIGNA.

We used United Health Insurance - not bad coverage, but only really affordable if you took the large deductible.
