My wife and I moved to St. Croix in August and are looking for a care-taking position. We came from Tennessee to help at the Free Will Baptist Christian School here and I am currently doing maintenance at the school and my wife is teaching. We have two children, ages 12 and 7. We are willing to do yard work and some home maintenance while living in the house. You may contact us via this web-site.

Although what you are looking for may not be impossible to find, I would move forward with other options and not plan on finding a house sitting position. People who do have house sitters usually have friends, friends of friends, single young people. I cannot imagine anyone having a family with 2 children house sit. The owner would probably go ahead and do a rental instead.

Linda is right - most families on the island who live in other peoples' homes are called renters. Ask yourself would you let a family live in your home without paying rent? Besides, where would you stay when the owner decides he/she wants to use the home.

Thanks for the input, guys, but we have actually met several people on the island who do just what we're looking for, so I guess it is possible. May be considered a long shot, but it never hurts to ask.

I know couples that do this for months at a time, not any with children of course, but you're right that it doesn't hurt to ask!

Best of luck,

Let
