My husband will be coming to St Thomas to work next week in fact. My son and I can't come see him for 30 days. When we do come we will come for about 5 days or so. If we decide that we want to stay then we may be relocating to the VI. What type of rental houses/apts are available? If we live in St Croix how hard is it to get from there to St Thomas or St John? I see that many recommend we bring what we can as far as furnishings are concerned. What are the public and /or private schools like. Our son is also a diabetic, is there an endocronlogists there for him to see or will we need to commute evry 3 months back to the mainland? I know that is alot to be asking but I was just curious and any and all help is greatly appreciated.

There are many threads ere for schools, transportation, and housing here. Just do a little research. As for your son being a diabetic bring his medical records (my husband is diabetic) and make an appointment with Dr. Gayann Hall. She keeps close eye on all things related to diabeties. As an Internest I swear by her.

Tammy: You cannot really live on St croix and work on St Thomas. I guess if you have your own plane, you could do it! 😉 There are frequent ferries between St Thomas and St John.

There are no endocrinologists on St Thomas, but there are many good internists. Because diabetes is rampant, they know a great deal. If your son has special needs, yes, he will have to return.

This website can give you more information and support than any that I am aware of. (sorry dangling preposition).

If your husband is working on St Thomas, then St Croix is not an option.
Spend your energy finding about St Thomas or St John.

This website has a "search" function (top of page..) that will give you a whole bunch of information.

I am sure , once who have read some of the comments, you will be back to clear up and answer your questions. You will also find some very helpful people who can help you make your future decisions.

BEST OF LUCK...
