This from the AKC website. Sounds like a good watchdog and family pet.

"The Cane Corso as a protector of his property and owners is unequaled. Intelligent, he is easily trained. Noble, majestic and powerful his, presence is impressive. He is docile and affectionate to his owner, loving with children and family."

This is what they say about the Anatolian. Definitely not for everyone but the ones I know are awesome.

"Alert and intelligent, calm and observant. Instinctively protective, he is courageous and highly adaptable. He is very loyal and responsive. Highly territorial, he is a natural guard. Reserve around strangers and off its territory is acceptable. Responsiveness with animation is not characteristic of the breed. Overhandling would be discouraged."

Yes they do. The females are a little more tight lip ed. These guys do not walk around drooling like a lot of Mastiffs do. Watch out when they hit the water bucket though.

I sometimes wonder if I am dyslexic. Sorry did not mean to jump on you. I just get really defensive about the big goof balls. You don't doubt they are a super dog. My brain left out the words, "you don't doubt". I sometimes read faster than the brain can translate it.

Why didn't you just say it was a Mastiff so I didn't have to Google it?:@)

I was at the Vet's office today, and while waiting, I was looking at the doggie chart on the exam room wall. I looked for Cane Corso, and couldn't find it. Obviously Mastiff was there.

Cane Corso is not an excepted breed of the AKC. This alone was one of the reasons I went the Corso route. Their are to many breeds that the AKC has screwed up by trying to breed the same cookie cutter dog all of the time, after a while the dogs are very beautiful to look at but they have lost all of the purpose they were bred for. I guess you can say,I am not a fan of the AKC. The AKC however has all the money to support their club.

The Corso was being looked at by the AKC and I don't know what really became of the subject. My original old dog was registered under the ICCF,which is the Italian Cane Corso Federation. They have since changed their name and to be honest without researching it I could not tell what they are listed as now. I t would be easy to find, paper work is all here, but I just got home and I am lazy tonight.

The Corso will sooner or later be over bred. There are several back yard breeders out there that are already messing the breed up. I started with great genetics and found more great genetics, put them together and ended up with 9 very healthy pups. The pups are pushing 3 years old and , knock on wood ,they are all doing great and are typical of the breed. They are as bad if not worse than real kids, they all have their own personalities and, hip issues and over all health has never been an issue. Keep in mind the old man had his spleen removed at about 3 or 4 years old and the mother did some stupid things, eating 130 pieces of drive way gravel which resulted in surgery and then blew out an ACL tendon. That was another surgery. All said and done they can be a bit expensive but what kid can't ?

Perfect by no means, but close enough for me. I can recommend some top notch breeders if anyone is interested.

Skys The Limit. Sorry again for not reading everything you wrote. I tend to get a little defensive about my kids. That old saying of,In for a penny,In for a pound. Well I guess that is me and the Corso. I really do recommend them for an indoor as well as out door dog, but they are at their happiest on the end of a leash or running around outside.
