How's the weather?

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering how the weather was right now without the trade winds. What have been your high temps? Does it cool off at night?

With the start of hurricane season do you have a problem with running out of preparedness supplies from the stores? I know here in Florida the supplies are not a problem until we have an actual named storm on the way, then everyone scrambles. Is it like that on the island or is everyone more concerned and better prepared?

Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Cloudy today. Not much difference in temps. Usually around 85 daytime & still not terribly hot at night, where I live anyway. Supplies aren't lacking right now but just like Florida everyone will scramble more if a storm approaches.

Last year we had a serious hurricane threat in August. A few days before the projected possible hit, I was out stocking up on the usual stuff, and I felt like I was the only one taking it seriously. The stores on STX were practically empty of customers, and the shelves were fully stocked with water, batteries, etc., etc. I had a doctor's appointment that day, and the ladies in the office were just blowing it off and kind of chuckling at my concern. Turns out they were right. It missed us. But....I'll do it my way every time!

I returned to Florida last night from Water Island. It is way hotter here (in the 90s) than it is on Water Island and without trade winds/constant breeze like we enjoyed on WI......my first day back in Florida....it's sweltering....like walking around in a sauna. In STT/WI, if you have a breeze, you're comfortable. Over the past month we had squalls/tropical waves, Montserrat volcanic ash as well as sahara dust. Ash & dust are "good things" at least from a hurricane deterrance perspective. The water seemed warm to me....refreshing but warm. And, warm water, as west coast of Florida, Gulf of MX, population knows, warm water is more favorable to hurricanes.
