I Have a leather Brief case (no Mold) Leather Belts (no Mold) have a black leather MC Jacket (no Mold) I live on the East side of ST Croix by the water. I Know the East side is dry compared to the west side. I think that might be a plus when you have arthritis.

Well Lizard, I live further east than you and all of a sudden I have mold. The worst is I unpacked my italian leather shoes for a trip back to the states and they just fell apart. Not the leather but the bottoms or soles of the shoes. Broke my heart. I found the solution for my leather furniture however, I soak it down with alcohol, not the drinking kind, the rubbing kind, works great. Like you, hubbys brief case and belts, no problem. We have had a lot of rain in the last 12 months. More than I have ever seen here. I went to Plaza Extra and bought two 20lbs bags of rice and filled up tube socks with the rice and put them all over my house. Sounds silly but I figure they will soak up the moisture in the house. I will let you know if it works.

I found that buying a tube of shoe goo (sp?) works best on re-gluing the sole back onto the shoe. Gannett Hardware sells this. It doesn't last forever but at least you can wear the shoes for a while longer.

RE Shoe soles: I've wanted to try 3M 5200 for shoe repair for a long time. Recently I tried it and so far it works very well.

Jumbie, these shoes just shredded. They were high heels with some sort of rubber material. It happened to three pair. They were all hardly worn. So weird.

In South East Asia we would spray our boots with diesel fuel, kept the boot dry and the snakes away!:D

I had a similar experience with a leather/natural rubber golf grip on one of my putters. that I had not used for several months after moving here in '07. It litterally disintergrated sitting in the "closet" and I had to put a new grip on it. I was told the high humidity effects these types of grips adversely. Other grips on my golf clubs are ok but they are of synthetic type polymer construction vs "leather".
