Does anyone know of how you go about finding an assisted living/independent living facility that would include meals that would need to be cooked to a very specific diet and include room cleaning every few weeks, outings, and wheelchair accessibility. Thanks!

I have never heard of a facility like that here, but perhaps someone else has.

If they had a power wheelchair, are there apartment complexes that are handicap accessible? Would she be able to get around to grocery stores etc, or is the terrain to rocky and steep?

Glenn: The terrain IS difficult. There are people with power chairs, but mostly I see them in Sugar Estate, around the hospital. I don't know if that is because they live in the public housing near by or not. I believe there may be some group homes, but these are privately owned and operated. There are no big apartment complexes here. The only assisted living is Lucinda Millen, which has a waiting list. The meals are provided by some government agency (like Meals on Wheels) and are definitely not going to be cooked to a specific diet, other than low salt, vegetarian, pureed, etc. I do not know of any outings, although people can get qualified for Vitran Plus, an accessible bus service. Quite honestly, this is not an environment that is kind to mobility limited people.
