Just wondering if there is any literature geared toward kids and moving to the islands? Maybe some nice children's books? Even if it doesn't involve the USVI's. Been away for a few, nice to be back.

Wow, what a good idea! That sure would be useful for families. I've never looked but I'll check if Dockside Books has anything next time I'm there. I've never heard of anything like that but that doesn't mean it's not out there.

Trade, check Up Mountain One Time by Willie Wilson. A book written by a local for kids. That might be a start.

Though our son was only 2 when we moved here we looked and read books on local plant and animal life on the island and then we hiked and explored to find the things we found in books. It is amazing how much knowledge he has gained by doing this. He has just turned 4 and he can find and name many things. His favorite thing to do is to look for different kinds of crabs, snails and sea life. I don't know what age your children are but our son loves it here.

One of the best things my kids did was the SEA camp during the summer--a week or two. At the time, it was only $25.00--but that was alot of years ago. I always said that it was the best $25.00 I ever spent on STX! They had to be 10 or 12 to participate, though.

Kallaloo! : a Caribbean tale / by David and Phillis Gershator ; illustrated by Diane Greenseid.
They also wrote: Greetings Sun and Bread is for Eating and some separately.... I found a copy in our library on the mainland... but they are also easily found on Amazon.com.

The Gershator's live on St. Thomas... the level of Kallaloo is probably around first grade... my daughter and I really enjoyed it ... but we have not read the other's yet.. The illustrations are quite colorful and added to the tale.

Hope this helps.

Are there any books, though about actual relocating to the VI such as there are for adults (Settler's Handbook, Life in the Left Lane, etc.) The ones listed do sound great.
