Hello All,

Since my last post, we have secured a place to live on St. Thomas and will be moving in October. I've been reading the message board and searched several topics - there is just so much information, I was hoping to narrow it down a bit. Can anyone give me their advice on the best:

1. Car Insurance and/or insurance agent?
2. Cell phone service?
3. Internet?
4. Can you get Directv? If not, do most people use the Dish Network or cable? If so, what company would you go with? Basically we must be able to get the NFL channel! 🙂
5. Also, for business insurance and/or health insurance, does anyone recommend a broker?

Your help, as always is invaluable - I would appreciate any advice!

Many thanks in advance.

Lesa

Depending on where you live, Choice might work for you & it carries NFL www.choice.vi It doesn't work at my place. I think Direct TV is now available but for sure, Dish Network is (if you can get the guy to return your phone call.)

Sprint & Cingular are popular cell services. I use Cingular because I live in a pocket where Sprint doesn't work.
For car insurance, I use First Insurance but I've never had a claim. . . For health insurance, check with Baker, Magras 777-4848.

I do use Innovative for my internet and phone and cable...The only problem I have with them, is well.....everything....Mostly service. If it doesn't work, its my fault not theirs. I have actually had them tell me that when the lines dry out, it should be fine....I advised them the lines were their responsibility, they stated the obvious.....Now why didn't I think of this......."We don't control the rain!!!!!!!" All part of the experience, I guess.
When they are out, I just use my wireless and hijack my neighbors wireless connection from Choice. When my commitment expires in February I am certainly dropping Innovative.
As far as cell, AT&T/Cingular is the only one that works where I live, however Sprint is on island upgrading their system, only after a lecture from the senators a couple of weeks ago about how the people should be served 🙂
I use Guardian insurance through J&J Insurance, very nice people. But like Trade, I have not had a claim.
Good luck!

Oh my!!!! Innovative is in the news this morning!!
It seems that the judge overseeing the company has granted complete control to the trustee previously appointed over part of the companies affairs. Apparently, the CEO has been paying himself $60,000 every two weeks (well worth it I'm sure) while bills were going unpaid, specifically pensions.....I hope some great telecom company like Timewarner or Cox Communications comes down and purchases Innovative....As it seems that may be the only thing that will save the company from being liquidated at the end of its bankruptcy.
