Hello, I have been here almost a month now, still no luck with finding a job just yet, anyone know of any openings anywhere or if anyone who is looking to hire someone? I'm on STX by the way, thanks! Kaley

What type of job are you looking for?
Sept. is generally the doldrums of tourist season.

You may just have to make a list of places and pound the pavement.
Good luck.

Off The Wall, Rowdy Joe's, Above the Cliff on the Northshore might be looking for server's or bartenders. Might also check The Deep End restaurant at Tamarind Reef. Not sure if they're hiring, but it can't hurt to check.

Didn't you know the season ends in May and it doesn't get busy again until December or January?

The April after our September arrival 2 years ago my husband finally got a 1 month trial at Rowdy Joes. It was not until placing an ad on Craigslist with details of what he does thhat any steady work came in. Good luck.

This is what happens when someone moves to the VI on a whim.

I did arrive without a job but pounded the pavement till I got one.

And that was in July.....a few years ago.

I understand that the economy is totally different then 3 years ago......keep pounding!

Quality Foods is looking for a sales rep...ad has been in the Avis for a few days. I know another organization looking for an advertising sales rep. PM me if you're interested. There's jobs out there but one has to pound the pavement and find them.

It's not so much the whim as it is, (everyone coming to the Islands are looking for the same jobs). If you come to the Islands even on a whim, you need to be creative and hopefully have something to offer like handyman services, mechanic, medical field, which are always in dire need. But EVERYone coming to the Islands want service jobs.

Mike: That is not strictly true. There are a number of professionals who come here- doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, allied heath people, accountants, etc.

She arrived in August surprised she has not found work yet. She should have known she arrived in the middle of the dead season.

Yes, but she's here now and needs a job. Rubbing her nose in her situation accomplishes nothing. Some people learn their lessons the hard way. Hopefully, someone can help her out.

One of our tenants got a serving/bartending job starting in August. Another got a serving job starting in June. It is NOT impossible. As a matter of fact, a lot of people leave for the off season, opening up jobs.

@westonkaley - There is no excuse whatsoever to write that. If you ask for help, it will come. Show maturity in not engaging people that way on such a SMALL island.
