Chris is also a friend of mine.
Things are not always what they seem.
Chris tried to register, but the AG said it wasn't necessary in the VI due to the nature of the case.
There was no sex, and the girl changed her story 3 times...saying Chris "touched" her.... in a twisted attempt to protect her Dad....who was molesting her....but an all white jury...in the south...and Chris being a black man....

This is VI Politics at its finest....trying to make Senator Judi look bad....

I wonder how much of a mistake you'd think it was if it was your daughter.

i agree with jamison, my hubby used to play in a band back in the day and bars that were only supposed to have 21 and older women often had underage girls. some younger than 16 who would of course hit on the guys in the band, you are in a club and you have an expectation that all the women will be of age.

and beeski, you say she was fabricating her story. that happens many more times than people want to admit. just look at the duke case from a few years ago.

I say that we "chip" all the young girls! RFID tags so that you can tell when you get near them how old they are.

Or, we could behave respectfully towards all people, men, women, and pretty young girls alike. What a concept!

These are his version of events, I'm assuming.

Frankly I don't care- I think lots of these laws and the zero tolerance mentality can punish seemingly good men and portray them as monsters- which they're not. There's a BIG difference between a 50yo men raping 5 year old boys, and a (hypothetical situation) 21 year old man, home from leave in the army who takes home a 16 year old girl who said she was 18.
The underlying cause is different, and the penalty should be different as well.

That being said, it looks like the guy was arrested back in 2006 for failure to register.

What was his board username out of curiosity?

pleading guilty was also much safer than fighting it. Also a lot more expensive. It also happened while he was driving the girl to the police station the second time, because his superior and her father was actually molesting her and has since been convicted. This entire thing is awful and a good man, who has been working to make our home better, and his family's life is being destroyed over politics.

Well now we have such valuable input from so many people who don't even know Chris (and neither do I) who take it upon themselves to dispute what those who know him personally have had to say, how about the Mr Stridiron who was arrested at the same time on St Thomas for the same offense?

I'm confused did he plead guilty or was he convicted by an all white jury?

His guilty plea was apparently originally entered in the US, not here. His offense here for which he was arrested based on an anonymous call, is for not registering as a sex offender. Reading helps.

Thanks Oldtart now it all makes sense. He plead guilty to the offense in FL and was convicted by an all white jury here in the USVI

it was a military court and it was his word vs his superior s daughter. He knew he was never going to win. So it was either go down swinging and spend half his life in prison or take the guilty plea and only lose a few years. That is what happened. He and I have talked about this before. Now that he's under federal indictment, he can't talk about it at all.

Do I understand correctly that his present difficulties are because he failed to register and not because of any current wrong-doing?

he was told by the AG he didn't need to 6 years ago when he went to do so. I'm not sure why. When he filed out his application he lied about never being a felon. He's been fired for that. I'm assuming he ruffled some feathers. Its screwy. And like I said, he can't nor wants to talk about it.

He hasn't even come to trial in the USVI.

I personally know Chris and his family. They are an amazing family, who have really tried to do great things for St Croix. My thoughts and prayers go out to Chris and his family...I can only imagine what they are going through right now.

It just seems to me that if he has been indicted for failing to register here that has nothing to do with the case which he has already been convicted for. So are you sure he cannot talk about it or are you just assuming or is that just what he told you?

Also, according to the fl sex offender website he was found guilty in 2006 of not registering there. So it seems at some point he moved here and again did not register which seems to be the current problem. So this is his second offense for not registering. He also lied on his job application about being a felon.

I do not know this person but it appears to be a pattern

So, Jeffrey Epstein, Cecile deJongh's boss, has to register in the VI Sex Offender Database, but Chris doesn't???

Where's the logic in that?

THERE WAS NO WRONGDOING!

As Jamison said, Chris took the girl to the police, where she made up a story about Chris touching her...to protect her molesting father.
Chris asked the VI AG if he needed to register....he was told he did not need to.
This is a cluster-f*** of epic proportions.

He failed to register in florida and in 2006 and was found guilty....he failed to register here in the USVI and is now in trouble....he lied on his employment application about being a felon....

How can you say that there is no wrong doing on his part?
