Disagree with this law. After you do your time, it should be over. Do you know that you can be considered a sex offender for urinating in public?

I completely disagree. Pedophiles are pedophiles for life. It is a borderline sexual orientation. You don't just wake up one day being sexually attracted to kids- its always there, and always has been.

Sexual offenders are, in general, not able to be rehabilitated/high likelihood of recurrence- hence the list.

not all sex offenders are pedophiles, like another poster said you can be considered a sex offender for urinating in public, and i see that a lot here. also you could only be one year difference from your girlfriend and have sex and boom, you are a sex offender. not pedophile

I agree, however, in this case the original charges were for actions against someone under the age of 16.

Just think of all of those catholic priests around the world who avoided prosecution and subsequent registration.

They instead just paid billions of their followers $$$ to cover up and buy off the victims.

He was 30 yrs old at the time of his conviction. This was not a case of teen hormones.

According to the Daily News article I read, he is 44 yrs. old. http://virginislandsdailynews.com/news/st-croix-man-who-works-for-senator-arrested-charged-with-failing-to-register-as-a-sex-offender-1.1637672

He was arrested in 1998 for the "underlying sex crimes stem from a 1998 conviction in Florida for having indecent contact with a girl younger than 16." It seems that would make him18 yrs. old at the time of his arrest in 1998, if he is indeed 44 yrs. old. We do not know the whole story related to the original arrest so we should be careful in rushing to judgement.

Don't get me wrong. Pedophilia is a terrible crime against the innocent. I just think that before the "tar and feathering" begins, all facts should be known.

Alana - might want to brush up on the math:

2014 - 1998 = convicted approx 16 years ago

44 - 16 = approx 28 years old at time of conviction - not 18.

I will attempt to be more clear in a language that you can understand.

Verily I say unto you, thou mouse shall take ye to a far away place where the answers that thou seeketh may be found! Ride thou mouse to the top of thine page. Enter ye through a secret passage marked "Message Board". In that land of mystery and other boards thou willst find one labeled "Under a Coconut Tree". Enter thee into this magical land. Seeketh ye there the answers to the questions that thou asketh and the Lord will reveal all!
R'amen.

Chris is a very good friend and I feel awful about this.

We seriously need to change the sexual predator laws.

I'm not about to go into any details about a friends life that is about to drastically change.

When I was in the military, a friend and I met a couple girls who said they were 21 and we went back to their place. Luckily the girls mom was home and we fought out they were minors. I've seen incredible fake ids in my time too.

My point is that not everything is black and white. I'm condoning nothing either, just differentiating between predator and mistake.
