I have a 7 hour overnight layover at SJU. Can I spend it in the airport without renting a room? The Charter flight I will take has almost depleted my$$$$.

Sure you can. In the main terminals no problem. They have dividers between the seats there though so less than ideal bench sleeping conditions.

You can buy an American Airlines Admirals Club day pass for $ 50.00. It is quiet and comfortable. Log on to www.aa.com/admiralsclub to buy a day pass on line.

You might NOT be able to actually stay in the secure terminal area. Check on the airport website and see if it says that the terminal is closed during certain hours. Even that info is not especially accurate though. Mr Beachy took a flight that had him overnight in SJU, and he got to stay right at the gate with our son, no problem. I took the same flights three or four days later, and we had to leave the terminal area, and wound up spending the night in the all-night food place outside. One suggestion, though, if all adults, is to take a cab to the El San Juan, and go to the casino. You don't have to gamble, but you can eat and drink, watch the action, sit in the lounge, and then taxi back to the terminal. Get your taxi fare worked out with the dispatcher before leaving the airport. Admirals club is certainly not open all night--we don't even belong any more because they have cut the hours so much.

The Admirals Club is not open all night. They close at 9 PM.

There is a hotel on the airport property, right across from the American Ticket Counter. The rooms are small and clean, perfectly adequate for a short, overnight stay. I think it's a Best Western, but I'm not sure.

The hotel is a Best Western, but the rooms are expensive. I usually have to pay around $180 for a double room.

I wonder if Priceline works for SJU airport hotels?

Check around at this site. 7 hours isn't too long though considering you'll have to come back through security, etc.

Waterbear, you'll find somewhere in the airport. If you end up kicked out (which I would bet money you won't), you can sit on the bench and read a book. I wouldn't count on sleeping (although you might), but you'll find some corner to chill out in. I wouldn't pay for a hotel on a 7 hour layover either!

Best of luck,
