Looking for insight on jobs in the USVI

I am thinking of moving to the usvi, but would like to know a few things before I go any further. I have banking experience, but am able and willing to work other jobs. I do have an interest in hospitality, but am also ok with continuing in banking. What is the outlook on obtaining a job there? If I did decide to move there, would I find a job? After researching online, I am leaning towards St. Thomas or St. Croix. I would most likely make a trip there before I move, but any information anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have a friend from another country, how easy or hard is it to obtain a work visa?

The Islands are not exactly next to each other, (St Thomas and St Croix) for a Pre move visit for both islands you would have to take a plane or ferry. Jobs in Hospitality would be more abundant in ST Thomas. Banking ???? If your Friend already has a work visa it can be used in the USVI. He/She can apply for an HB-1 for professional positions that require a College Degree, Lawyer,Doctor, Nurse, Web Designer etc, Or He/She can apply for an HB-2 No College Degree required and can not be for agriculture type job. there is a limit on these jobs. The Visa's are good for 3 years but can be extended up to 6. the visa holder can apply for a green card while holding a work visa. Good Luck.

Banking covers a lot of territory. Depends on what you can do & if there is a demand. Ditto hospitality. The economy has hit the islands hard & it's doubtful you'd be hired unless you were already here. If you don't have kids & take the risk, I'd say go for it but have enough to return if it doesn't work out. An excellent work ethic & letters of recommendation help. It's expensive living here & most place to rent require first/last & security. Read the links above & the threads on this board. Good luck.
