He's a sick man....

Fire and brimstone.. Better pass it or I will have to stay in an unsafe hotel... WTH

Maybe he should fix the crime issue and he would feel safe, what a tool.

Trying to use fear. You do know Mr. Mapp, even when this is passed, your not going to see the monies for 6-12 months at a minimum.

He still doesn't mention productivity of the gov't. Getting the # of employees right sized to the population. Getting them to do their job efficiently. That would be a huge savings now and in the future.

He is so narcissistic or just dumb, I haven't figured that one out yet.

MAPP LOSES TEMPER WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT RITZ-CARLTON, NEW CARS

http://viconsortium.com/politics/mapp-loses-temper-when-questioned-on-ritz-carlton-new-cars/

Imagine that! Losing his temper because someone asks him about his wasteful spending.

That's what pisses me off most. If he was a true leader, he would say , you know your right, I have to do as I have asked the rest of the territory to do and that is control spending. But he's so arrogant about it. I feel bad for the VI and the next many years on how he is going to destroy it until someone can come in there and run it correctly. Hopefully in 2+ years, but that's a long time to make it so broken, it'll take forever to get right.

Alana you got me so infuriated now.. Not at you, but him. gotta calm down and get my blood pressure in check. I only stay there for 3-4 weeks a year right now, and plan on living full time in 5 years and wish I people would see what a jackass he is. When you show off your new fleet and make these types of comments, you are a total piece of shit in my book. I manager over 150 people and if I as a leader ever acted this way, I would be looking from the outside in. Your never going to please everyone, but you need to make the attempt, have an understanding of your people's needs and serve your team, not yourself. OK, I'm calming down, my wife just dropped me off a cup of coffee.. ummm and I have to go visit the Boys and Girls clubs in the area today, to see how my company and my team can help them out. Have a great day everyone. 🙂

We should ALL be infuriated and demanding an complete accounting of his and his office's spending, a reduction in salaries of the governor's, lt. governor's, senators and top officials in this administration and a reduction in the number of senators as well as a complete accounting of their ridiculous spending ($12 MILLION) to run the VI Legislature.

I also see no need for assistant commissioners and the assistants to the assistants.

Until this happens, these self-serving, ethically challenged, fiscally irresponsible politicians shall continue their wasteful spending and raising our taxes and fees while reducing the woefully inadequate services they do provide to already overburdened taxpayers.

Now the VIC has an article about him leaving the territory. Is Idi Amin going into exile?

Unfortunately not.
He's just off to spend more of our tax dollars on luxury travel while attending a governors meeting in DC.

Does the territory have an impeachment clause in the revised organic act? Do they have FOI, cannot someone request to see all of the spending?

Daily News continues to request info under FOI, to No Avail!
Since AG handpicked by Mapp, no help there, either.

Can't comment on impeachment clause.
Maybe someone else can.

I only live here 3 months a year after having lived here full time from 2007-2012. This governor is beyond a doubt the worst in my recent memory. I vaguely remember Turnbull.

I totally agree with Alana33 and daveb722 comments.

Our current governor is a malignant narcissist, an arrogant jackass, and in general a lousy governor.

We better let the tourism industry know if the STT visitors don't stay at the RITZ-CARLTON they won't be safe.

So what does the VI constitution allow for a Governor Recall election? How many signatures needed on a petition to call for a recall election? Let's get a petition together. They did it to Gray Davis over the budget. Maybe we can get Schwarzenegger to replace Mapp:D

I spent 5 hours looking last night for the information. It's non existent online. I found law recalls - cough - sin tax.

Shurely someone with more legal expertise should be able to find this, I can pretty much guarantee we'd get the signatures.

There's a bunch of posts on what's going on St Thomas facebook page. People are pissed. Rightfully so as he literally slaps the voters in the face time after time.

We are actually meeting with a realtor on Monday here in chas. She was in stx and stt for 15 years. Will be having a long talk about the politics and effects on everyday life.

Will be in stx for 10 day pmvIII. Meeting with a realtor to look at rentals and areas to buy or not buy.

Wife hasn't been really following the ongoing problems; hopefully Monday evening she will gain a little knowledge.

It makes for interesting conversation... that's about as much effect I've seen.

If only there was a proven, clear, FAST way to boost the economy...

Just imagine the cruise ship business. They'll forget all about the sin tax. Here again with our small islands, the money would need to come from the exports and visitors.

We'll see if the White House really does put the kibosh on that option.

"The Department of Planning and Natural Resources said on Friday that it only tested 14 beaches, with the only known unsafe area being the Buccaneer. D.P.N.R. did not say why it failed to sample its regular amount of 34 beaches.....St. Thomas beaches were not sampled."

http://viconsortium.com/community-center/only-fourteen-beaches-tested-buccaneer-not-safe/

Hmmm, I wonder why they only sampled less than half of the norm?

Does it really matter since they post test results the week after the fact?
Very few beaches don't test for high levels of enterococci bacteria.

I have never once changed my beach plans as a result to these test results but I can understand why someone with a compromised immune system might.

Austerity measures sure don't apply to Governor Mapp!

MAPP, POTTER, SHOW OFF FLEET OF BRAND NEW SUBURBANS AT AGRIFEST 2017

http://viconsortium.com/featured/mapp-potter-show-off-fleet-of-brand-new-suburbans-at-agrifest-2017/

From the article:

“I’m going to be honest and tell you I’m not taking up that initiative. I am more concerned about the better growth, the wider growth of the community, the opportunity for jobs, for investing in the community to get the revenues up to provide the services. But the symbolic cut of cutting two or three hundred thousand dollars out of a $700 million budget to say, ‘okay, we’re paying the senators lower, and we’re paying the governor and lieutenant governor lower,’ and so we’ve created some massive achievement, for me is not realistic, and I’m just not going to expend my time on it.”

I don't think he gets it.. CUT MORE then!

why do we have assistants to assistants WITH VEHICLES?
