You might consider living on St Thomas and spending your free time on St John, like lots of other folk.;)

Of all the (very) many people I've known over the years who've done the working commute between St Thomas and St John, I don't know a single one who didn't get tired of it very quickly and ended up moving to the island on which they were employed. It may seem idyllic initially to look forward to beginning and ending the day with a ferry ride but it quickly becomes a real chore.

One's always rushing to catch a ferry.

Live in STT, play in STJ on weekends but there's lot to do here in STT and some pretty fabulous beaches. As well as great diving, sailing, kayaking and exploring.

Just bought a lottery ticket. If I win,.....first purchase will be a hovercraft,...second purchase will be a round on me,....for the whole island! Lol!

For the length of time it'll take for the government to decide how to license it, register it and regulate it - as a bird or a plane or Superman - it'll have gone through a few different legislative bodies and be rusted out in the mangroves.

But this one looks like such fun!

Do you need a license to pilot a hovercraft?
No. Hovercraft come under U.S. Coast Guard jurisdiction. When you buy a hovercraft, you will be assigned a Coast Guard hull identification number (HIN). These numbers are free and, if you decide to purchase a partially assembled Hovertrek™, your number will be provided by Neoteric. Using this number, you then register your vehicle as a boat. Some states may require an ATV license as well. Overseas customers should consult your local hoverclub or marine authority.

If you rest on the assumption that logic prevails in the USVI, living here will very quickly dispel such a silly notion. 😀
