I have heard that living aboard is being restricted (or stopped all together??) in the USVI, are there areas where living aboard is allowed? What about at slips? Thanks!

people live aboard a lot of boats on STX, in the marinas and in the harbor. The marinas raised the rates a while back, which effectively makes it much cheaper for most people to just rent a condo or apartment when many of them would have lived cheaply on a boat in the past.

The recent news is about restricting living aboard within the St James Marine Sanctuary. This includes the Lagoon area, Benner Bay, Secret Harbour, Christmas Cove, Cowpet, Great Bay. There are people who live aboard on moorings in various other bays and in slips also.

K-

Private mooring balls can not be rented or transfered / sold from the original owner and vessel. I just got a copy of the mooring installation application yesterday and it has it right on it. You may have to apply and have one installed. One of the more costly dockage fees are at American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook. Here is their web site:

Sorry I could not provide better info. I am also looking for a "reasonable" dock fee for 2 weeks in Nov.

on STX, plan on $25 per foot per month plus water plus power if you are in a marina
