Mopeds? Cell phones?

Hey,
I'm moving to St J this fall and wondering about some logistical stuff.
I'm thinking about buying a cheap moped for transportation, would that be practical for St J?
Am I better off buying one on the mainland and shipping it over or buying something on-island?
Also, what are my chances of getting decent cell reception?
I'm a massage therapist and also wondering if there are a lot of therapists on St J.

Thanks! Appreciate any responses.

Jen

A moped on STJ is not a good idea. Have you ever been to STJ? If not I suggest a visit to check things out.

Thanks for replying.
I've been down before.
Why would you consider it a bad place for a moped in particular?
I'd prefer to avoid having a car, but it doesn't seem an ideal place to be without transportation.

Narrow roads, slick after showers, curves, plus crazy drivers make it risky.

Any advice about buying an island car? Are they hard to find on St John?

Moped?? you must be crazy have you been to STJ or STT and the hills and winding roads forget about that. If you have the money get a new Car and have Warranty if not try to get a used Jeep wrangler or Rav 4 that is your best bet. In regards to Cellphones AT&T has the best and most reliable coverage in the USVI.

If you have a death wish get a moped cuz that will be your likely outcome with one on STT or STJ, "Trade" has it correct as to why, you could not get me on a moped let alone a motorcycle there for any reason and I am an former biker.

Well...my...I think I've been thoroughly horrified by my assured and grisly demise should I dare hop upon a moped.

thanks for the insights folks!
