mosquito's & no-see-ums on STX

hi from southwest florida. i'm use to insects here because i live next to the mangroves and love camping. just wondering what to expect down there. plan on making my pmv last two weeks of april.

You will encounter them most often in the late afternoon and early evening. During the dry season mosquitos aren't much of a problem particularly on the dry east end. Cheeseburgers is an exception to all the bug rules on STX you will always need to wear repelent when there in the evening if you don't want to get eaten yourself.

Shouldnt be too different then any other humid tropical type area like fl. In winter the winds are stronger so they seem to be less of a problems. When the trade winds start to die in june or july they seem worse. You shouldnt notice them in places like the beach unless there is just no breeze for some reason. Keep bug spray in your car and you will be fine.
