I am moving from STT to STX. Does anyone have any information regarding how to get things from STT to STX? I have a truck, household belongings and pets.

Truck- Does the truck have to clear Customs when it's just being shipped between islands?
Can you load the truck with belongings? Any recommendations for a good shipping company?

Belongings- Way too much stuff to mail but not enough for a container. I may sell the furniture but I still have quite a few personal items. What is the best way to ship them there?

Pets- How do I get my pets there safely? I have one cat and one large dog.

Hi,

I made the move from STT to STX in March. It was so easy. We used Norma H, Formel Ocean Freight, 787-723-4114. Captain Steve will guide you through it. Passengers are not allowed on the ship, EXCEPT, if they are shipping animals. We wound up bringing the dogs on the Seaplane with us, but the option was there to ride the boat. We loaded up my SUV and my husbands truck, with household goods, plus you can ship pallets. The cost was very reasonable. It was $280 per vehicle and $55 per pallet.

For the bigger stuff, we used Viking. That was more expensive. Their own version of a pod was $1200. That was with them loading and unloading. They partner with Continental on the STX end.

You don't go through customs, but you have to go to the Lt. Gov.'s office to get a clearance on the vehicles, and you have to have an inspection at Motor Vehicles on STT. My husband took care of all that, so I'm not sure the exact procedure. I remember the timing is tight. You can't get the clearance too soon, and you can't leave the car at the dock too early, and you have to work the inspection in between, so you need to be a little flexible. The LG's office and Capt. Steve can explain it all.

Good luck. Feel free to ask or send me a PM if I can answer anything else for you.
