Hey everyone...
Finally made the final decision and am going to make the move to St Thomas sometime this summer (the timing depends on the sale of my house).
Planned out a PMV with a friend from April 1st-April 8th (this is going to be my 2nd time on the island), staying in Charlotte Amalie the 1st night, then to Point Pleasant, and the last night on St. John/Cruz Bay.
Back in the states, I ran the custom home building business for my family, but the economy is pretty rough here around Chicago...so is the winter. I will be finishing up over the next month or so with them, until I setup my dad with everything he needs, and will be working side jobs/remodeling/basements until the move.
Right now the plan is to go to work on Lovango Cay working on building homes there. A friend of mine got me hooked up with some people there so hopefully the job there will work out, otherwise I'll be looking for something else. Eventually I would like to get into remodeling and possibly building homes on St Thomas/St John.
I'll be looking most likely for a short term (2-4 month or so) studio or one bedroom rental on the east end once I move before I find a place to purchase.
To be able to meet some people when I am there in a few weeks would be neat...let me know if anyone would like to go grab a drink and give me some pointers! I'll buy (at least the first few rounds....)!
