Good afternoon, pazd4,

You will find much of the information you're looking for in the FAQ: https://www.vimovingcenter.com/faq/.

Among other airlines, Cape Air flies from STX to Puerto Rico; check out their website for an idea of flight times to San Juan and Mayaguez.

Graduate nurses can work here under supervision with limited privileges until licensing comes through. You can obtain more information from Human Resources at the hospital (340) 778-6311. It answers"this is not a working number" but hang in there, dial 0 and the operator will come on and transfer your call. Good luck!

the only hospital i that i find in st. croix is Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center....( 4007 Diamond Ruby Estate,). is that the only hospital?

ok know if i work there and my husband works in a small school located at

No. 20 & 21 Estate Mountain

and i work at ...( 4007 Diamond Ruby Estate)... where would it be best to live ?

thanks for any information.

Juan F Luis is the only hospital. There are clinics in Fredriksted and Christiansted as well, but the major employer is the hospital.

Living is 1. where you want 2. where you can find a rental

If you find a place around Mountain, Grove place, Upper love, you would have a quick ride to the hospital. South of the highway and you tend to get the smells from Hovenza.

STX & PR are around 75 miles apart, so the weather is the same(higher elevations are cooler).
STX has lots of Humanity as well(unless your speaking about the senators or convention delegates,or our currupt police officers<<and the taxi drivers not as bad as STT).

STX has Banco Popular & First banks(from Puerto Rico).

If you purchase property here, you`ll need to get a mortgage here(unless you purchase outright).

If you obtain a mortgage through First Bank, everything they send you about it will be in Spanish(especially if you request English).

Since I don`t know Spanish, & I know they will never send me anything in English,so, I`ve requested they send it in Mandarin Chinese(I put this request in every month when I pay).
I`m still waiting though.

DUN, I don't know which First Bank you're talking about, but we have a mortgage with them and have never gotten anything in a language other than English.

Sounds like you have a lot of questions and research to do. I cant help with STX, as I've only lived on STJ & STT. Best advice is a pre move visit, you can really hit the ground and see things as they are and decide what's best for you with first hand exposure. A premove visit from PR should be fairly affordable and worth the money seeing it's in close proximity. Also, use the Keyword Search thread and the Tabs at the top of the page, you'll find a lot of answers to your basic questions have already been answered.

There is a Montessori school on the same road as the hospital a couple of miles north in Queens Quarter. www.viphonebook.com.
The Stone House School in Princess on North Shore Road near the Entrance to Judith's Fancy is a good daycare. sorry for the vague locations we don't have street signs and some roads are known by several names, but the island is just 7 miles wide and 28 long so the learning curve isn't to steep.

The stores are usually well stoked during the middle of the week, don't shop at the beginning of the month, that's when the food stamps come. You can but a ratta island car for $2000 and up and insure it for less than $500. You are supposed to get a VI drivers licence after 6 months. you turn in your stateside licence and bring every ID you own, don't wear a tanktop.

There is a major maintence project that is supposed to start in Jan 20010 thru March so lodging will be scarce and expensive.. There is a bunch of info available in this forum about shipping stuff, do a search of the forum.

WELCOME TO PARADISE

Check out the other forum - (USVI Classifieds) go to forum list and then it takes to a page to select. There are a bunch of places advertised in there.
