Don't rent a place sight unseen. STX is a small island, so find a place to stay for a few days, drive around the island and look at the various areas, then take a look at the available rentals in the areas in which you are willing to live.

I agree whole heartedly. And if you're just over in PR right now - take a quick flight over for even a day trip to look at some places.

Huh? I would have thought a move from PR to STX to be too similar (except you'll have more opportunities to do without options here) to be considered an adventure. I do know there's a great need for nurses and seem to recall my wife mentioning some sort of big incentive program to bring in nurses (something like $60k bonus after 6 months as I recall) so I hope you're aware/participating.

It could be the grass is always greener thing but after our first real visit to PR earlier this year (we moved to STX just over a year ago) I told my wife that as much as I like living in STX I'd jump at the chance to live in PR which seems to have all we have in STX and a whole lot more. My wife by contrast has really adjusted to STX and says she only wants to live here for the rest of her life - she feels other places including PR are too fast and hectic! Go figure...

Other than perhaps the weather, I don't find the VI at all like PR. The OP may very well have a big adjustment if she moves.

At least, if she moves to STX, there are plenty of Spanish speaking people here!
