Hello everyone. Hillary and I currently live in Charleston, SC where the beach is king and the lifestyle is tempered by hammocks and iced tea; laid back and easy. We've visited STJ and the USVI more than several times and are smitten. Our target relocation date is by summer of '06 and after stumbling upon this great message board we welcome any and all advice, personal experiences, introductions or words of wisdom in making our dream a reality. Hillary is a pastry chef and I have opened several bars/restaurants/clubs and our wish is to have a little place of our own down there someday...or just sell pencils on the beach...whichever comes first. Local help on living spaces, advice on bringing vehicles and house goods is truly appreciated. We are just beach folk looking to make our dreams a reality...thanks and god bless.

Hello Marc & Hillary,
Welcome to the board. I suggest you click on the Home link at the top of this page and read through the housing, real estate, apartments, cost of living, business, shipping cars sections to give you some background on those topics. Order the Settlers Handbook shown at the top of this page and read through it. Keep an eye on the MLS for bars/restaurants for sale. Read this board often and when you come up with questions while researching feel free to post them. Also from the home page there is a link to 'what to expect' there are stories there from people that made the move - you might read through some of them.
