I am considering moving to st.croix in the next couple months, I found a really neat place in white lady fredericksted, st croix and was wondering if this is a decent safe area, I really like the idea of being close to the water and having an ocean view.My girlfriend is german white and she is very hesitant about moving but I have very well made up my mind and am just trying to work out the details.I understand that I will have to take a significant pay cut but I am okay with that at this point.I am currently in california and work as a automotive technician on european/asian cars. She has a degree in business administration/marketing but worry about finding a job....
Long Reef condos also seem to be a decent place to live as well but the association fees/insurance is quite high some units are almost $600.00 per month is that correct.I would really like to live anywhere near Cramers park but that area is quite pricey and definately out of my budget...

I was born and raised on st.croix but left when I was about 15 years olds and at that point I had not really seen much of the island,I was there again many times since 1989 when I moved to the states including last year. i know where white lady is but just don't know if its a decent place to live,I most definately don't want to sleep with one eye open or holding my gun

That last sentence was the impression I had looking around the Long reef condos. they looked like a Motel six with clothes hanging off all of the railings. It was sure different than the angle that they took a photo of for the ads on the web pages.
Just my opinion, and it's worth what you paid for it. Nothing!

Most parts of the island have a mixture of both nice and run down areas within each estate/neighborhood. There are housing projects scattered about the island. Such "projects" are sometimes perceived as being less than desirable to have in the vicinity of your home. In general, the island is a safe and friendly place. There are individuals and pockets or blocks within neighborhoods that are more prone to crime. That can be said of many places, not just in the islands.

There are several properties currently on the market in White Lady on St. Croix that are very nice. There are probably a few nice ones that are sometimes available for rent, as well. You would be wise to visit them in person and drive and walk around the neigborhood for a few blocks in every direction to see how you personally feel about the environment. Different people accept or object to different things. If White Lady doesn't turn out to be right for you, there are many other properties to consider on the island and you are sure to find something that will work for you and your girlfriend.

Please learn where things are located before you make a comment. There is a complex located at the bottom of the hill by the Pueblo, but that is not Long Reef. I live at Long Reef Condos and I have never seen any laundry hanging off peoples balconies. There is a laundry room at the facility with dryers and no one dries their stuff outside. So whoever posted that they see clothes hanging up and states that it is not a decent place to live is not speaking the truth. It is a quiet community and people look out for each other. It also has lush landscaping you can view once you are inside the gates. If you need more information, please feel free to e-mail me.

Gee, I hope no one looks in my back yard. I do sometimes hang out wet laundry.
