Has anyone registered or know anyone who has registered a car with right hand drive in the VI?

A dealer in Chicago I know took in a Jeep with right hand drive as a trade in. Not much call for that in Chicago so I can get a very good price for the vehicle.

Just wondering if I shipped it to STX if I could get it registered. Logically a right hand drive makes perfect sense in the VI, but with the DMV logic doesn't always comeinto play.

I have seen a few. So it should not be a problem getting it registered. But think about this. I tell the tourist this all the time. 90% of the time, i am the only one in my car. If i get in a head on, it will most likely be passenger side to passenger side.
Maybe a little safer?

That is a valid point, but by having a better line of site I would hope not to get hit.

Also by sitting in the middle you avoid possible injury by being t-boned if someone pulls out on the left hand side of the road trying to see around all the vegitation.

Main reason for buying the car though is the deal.

There are several in St. Thomas. Don't see why you would have any problem registering it in St. Croix.

Registering the vehicle won't be a problem, to the best of my knowledge. It's always seemed so dumb to me for cars here to be LH drive when we drive on the left. But of course we're an American territory so we have American vehicles.

The biggest problem that most peope find driving LH vehicles is the headlights which are slanted for Stateside driving and thus, even on low-beam, are a night-time challenge for the approaching driver who gets blinded. Add into this factor that the majority of people keep on their high-beams and you get double-blinded.

What awesome serendipity it would be if every car coming into the territory were mandated to have it's headlights realigned to left instead of right. That ain't no biggie and is a simple procedure which might even save a few lives!
