Netflix Price Increase

I definitely still have the $5 blockbuster option. It is the only non "unlimited" plan they have, its capped at 2 movies a month. Maybe they just don't offer it to new subs any more?

I didn't see it when I tried to subscribe the other day. My Blockbuster movies came today, and I think their delivery is one day shorter than Netflix, because it looks like they're mailed out of Miami. Now to get them all watched!

You can get the streaming with AT&T or Sprint cellular modems. I think it all depends on your service provider.

Last time I checked you couldn't do Blockbuster here. Did they change their policy? How nice to have more options.

I've been doing Blockbuster here for 4 years at least! They don't have a streaming option like Netflix though, they do have Blockbuster on Demand but it is straight PPV and it doesn't work from non stateside IP addresses.

As a cautionary note I should point out that I've just gotten the iphone4 with ios4.2 and the netflix app will NOT work for me here in the VI, even with my VPN configured on the phone. Your mileage may vary.

I have one of the new Windows 7 phones on the AT&T network and the Netflix app works fine on my phone. However, on my son's phone which is the exact same on AT&T also, it doesn't work!

Come to think of it, the one that does work is a 340 number and the one that doesn't is a mainland number.

Regarding the quality, I only tried it for a couple of minutes because not to surprisingly I don't relish the idea of watching movies on a 4" screen. However, the quality was barely acceptable.

I'll do some more testing tomorrow to see if possibly my 340 phone was using a wi-fi connection and the other wasn't.

I phone does get the netflix stream fine. If you have an I4 you can even link to your tv for vivewing.

As I said, I have a new iphone 4 and netflix streaming does not work for me. I've tried turning connecting through a vpn (which works fine for my desktop), turning off wifi, turning off location services, etc. I'm puzzled. Anyone else? Suggestions?

@SunyCaribe, when you try to stream Netflix on your iPhone, what are the symptoms? Does it say "loading" and then disappear/crash, or nothing happens at all? Have you tried to stream Netflix on 3G? What type of WiFi router are you using? Do you know if you are running DD-WRT on the router? There is a documented bug with DD-WRT that causes issues with Netflix and iPhones/iPads. A quick fix (if this is the issue) is to change the DNS server on your iPhone from whatever it is (probably something like 192.168.1.1) to 8.8.8.8 (Google's public DNS server). This seems to help resolve the issue with the DD-WRT bug. Just a thought...

Thanks tnemig! I stream netflix on my pc via my router through a vpn just fine, but the iphone app gives me the old "Netflix streaming is not available in your area. If you feel you are receiving this message in error...." message. I've tried to disable all the location-identifying stuff I know of, but it still won't let me in.

Interesting, I run my Ipod touch through a dd-wrt router that is tunneling everything trhough the states. The router assigns itself as my dns server and it fails to work with Netflix. I will try to hardcode the google DNS servers like Tim suggested and see if that fixes the problem.

It was in the trades yesterday that NetFlix is adding content that can be streamed to their Canadian customers. Think Netflix will ever cut a deal so they can stream video to the USVI, PR and other US territories?

As a test I can now say that Netflix does work with our 340 account on our iPhone 4 and one of our Windows 7 phones. It doesn't work on our U.S. area code account on a second Windows 7 phone.
