First off, thanks to Scubado for sending me here from the vacationer's board...

Just got to STT Wednesday, I'm living & working here until the end of June. Right now I'm staying at Sapphire Beach, probably moving to Cowpet Bay by the 1st. Don't have the time or the disposable income to do all the tourist-trap stuff, so I'm looking to get a little local flavor while I'm here. Home for me normally is Wisconsin (born & raised), tho after this gig that may be changing anyway (possibly Chicago unless I find something here I just can't pass up). Any suggestions on how to spend my downtime? Any hot tips on local goodies ? Where's a good spot to get some fresh fish that was swimming less than 24 hours ago? Thanks in advance...

-Brian

A good way to get fresh fish is to be around the AYH docks around the time the sport fishing charters get back in, usually late afternoon, and watch or ask where they're taking whatever they've caught that day. I know some of it goes to Off the Hook (that's where a friend of mine usually takes his fish) and to other Red Hook restaurants.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of something to take home and cook myself.

Lundah - that's what she meant. There are some main dock areas where the fishermen come in and they are willing to sell to the general public before they take the remainder of their catch to sell to the restaurants and resorts.
