Hello

My wife are I probably moving to St. Thomas or St. John in late August. from Seattle We are in our young 30s, and I just recently graduated with a Master's of Public Administration degree with focuses in international development and nonprofit management. I have seven years of related experience.

I'm wondering what the chances of me finding a job are (my wife already has one as she's in the medical field). I'm looking to work for a nonprofit organization or possibly the government.

Any advice, help, or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your time.

Matt

I think a serious question deserves a serious answer.

Unless you have a specific, needed skill, it will be difficult if not impossible to secure a government job. and our non-profits tend to be small. If you can survive on your wife's income, I'd suggest coming down and you finding any job to start. You can then start looking for something in your field.

Good luck.

I have no clue if they're hiring but with your background in international development you may be able to find something with http://www.usviedc.com/

Even if they aren't hiring they're supposed to be in the business of bringing business here so getting on their radar screen might lead to something in the future.
