Well I can tell you a little about the nursing profession in St. Thomas, I am actually from Philadelphia too, I worked at Pennsylvania Hopsital before moving down here, I have been here for 6 months and plan I think to stay until the fall. The hospital is very understaffed and they micro manage everything, it is very very frustrating, they think doctors are gods and nurses are worker ants, the problem is they can treat the nurses however they want because there is only one hospital down here and there for the nurses whose families live here really don't have many job opportunities, recruitement and retention is new. They float all the time and really do not listen to new ideas, As for the ER maybe where you would be interested in working, they see everything from gun shots to sun burns, from what I heard it is chaos. You should come down here on a travel assignment before make any decisions to move here and take a job at the hospital. Hope this helps feel free to ask any more questions, hopefully I can be of some help.

beatriz: This thread is a year old. Have you checked the Schneider Regional Medical Center website? They are seeking nurses. See here: http://www.srmedicalcenter.org/ There have been a couple of recent threads too! 🙂

EE, they're still offering the $2000.00 referral fee. That would buy you LOTS of singing lessons. 🙂
