It's on the north side of Puerto Rico outside the town of Arecibo; about 40 miles west of San Juan. This is the largest radio telescope dish in the world. As you can see it's carved out of a valley. It was used in one of the James Bond movies.

This dish can also be used to transmit a signal. In the past they bounced a radar signal off of the moon for ranging. These days they use lasers pointed at various corner reflectors on the moon. The dish was also used by SETI for many years.

ahh, my old neighborhood, The pic is immpressive, much more so than just driving by on route 2.

That dish has been in a lot of movies. James Bond movies you will see it.
