Hello, is there anyone here who would be willing to answer some questions I have? My husband is one of a few candidates for a job at Hess Refinery, and we are wanting to find out more information for preparedness' sake.
Is there a housing shortage? Is it likely we will have difficulty finding a rental property?
Does anyone know a ballpark figure for having a 40' container shipped from the US to STX? I tried to use an estimate form, but I didn't understand all the things they asked about ports and such.
Does anyone know of any Mom's groups that meet regularly? Does anyone know of a homeschooling group on STX?
Can you only buy your milk and veggies at grocery stores, or do individual farmers sell milk/eggs/produce as well? (I think they are called farmer's markets??)

I have so many more questions, but I hate to waste your time. If someone wouldn't mind answering my questions, I'd love to email with you off the board so I don't clog it up with my curiosity. (cypresshsmom at yahoo dot com)
Thank you for your time,
Brandy in Cypress TX

Hello Brandy,

Please ask all your questions here, those who can answer will. (tu) You won't be clogging up the board. Asking questions, getting answers, sharing thoughts is the whole point. Also others might have the same questions as you, so the information sharing reaches more readers when its on the forum. 🙂

There has been a housing shortage on St. Croix as of late. How difficult it will be to find a place, I am not sure. Perhaps a recent St. Croix transplant can provide some personal feedback there on their rental search.

I don't know of a Mom's group or a home schooling group.

You can buy all of your groceries at grocery stores, including produce/milk. And there are small markets for picking up locally grown vegetables, buying fish, fruits from local farmers as well.
