Hi, I am nesting in my new apt in CA and need some plants for the courtyard. A large palm and banana tree would be great. I have a few cuttings but still need plants. Home Depot does not seem like the best deal. Anyone have recommendations for where to buy plants on STT? I like to support local business if possible.
Thanx - Jammin' Jerry Z

Bryan's Plants (north side). Lots of great plants; best selection of herbs. My favorite plant place.

ABC Nursery (Skyline Nursery? can't remember; they recently changed the name). Large stock of "standard" island plants; some very nice pots. Mandahl Road.

The nursery at Tutu Park mall. Don't remember the name. Can't recall seeing banana trees there.

If you have any friends who live on the little north side/Mountaintop area you can probably dig up all the banana plants you want. They grow like weeds on that part of the island.

I really like the plant place in the parking lot at Tutu Park Mall.

The Sat. morning Market Sq. in CA usually has some great plants and prices -- if you can wait a month until the Food Fair day during Carnival you will find all the plants you could ever want for sale that day.

But you better get there before 6:00 AM for the best for Food Fair. 🙂

Home Depot may not have the best prices, although I have always found them to be competitive, but they do offer a one year guarantee. So, if you manage to kill the plant, they will replace it. Keep the receipts. Also reconfirm this with HD before you buy.

Hmm, I thought that Charlotte Amalie proper was called "Town." The only CA I have heard of is the Golden State. 😉 😉 😉

Cranky again EE? There was a guy once that sold the banana tree slips out of the back of his truck. Maybe he is in the market early Saturdays.
