Hello all,

Does anyone know of a map which delineates the "quarters" on St. Croix? I can find maps of the estates, but can't find one that tells me where all of the larger "quarters" are.

I am having a little confusion looking at real estate listings... for example, what is the difference between Williams Delight WE and Williams Delight PR? Are they in two sepatate areas on the island or just two different ends of the same estate???

Thanks for your help!

Susan

Susan, I can't answer all of your questions, but go to this website: http://www.ayervirginislands.com/properties/search.asp

They have a map that might help you.

I'm not sure what "PR" and "WE" stand for, but I used to live in that neighborhood and there are two sections: one consists of projects and the other consists of privately-owned homes.

I have never met anyone here who completely understood the different quarters, neighborhoods or estates on St Thomas, St John or St Croix.

It would be very helpful if some literate person was able to tell 'us' all about the origin, meaning and boundries of those geographical sub divisions....

please....

These divisions all come from the Danish days when the colonial government divided up the island into sections. I'm not sure why it was divided like that, but I guess it made the island easier to govern or something. The island was also divided up during the census, but I am not sure if they use the same "quarters" drawn during the Danish colonial era.

Off what Dominic just said, PR is Prince quarter and WE is the Westend quarter of StX. Individual Danish property owners named thier estates (ex being Judiths Fancy, Upper Love, etc) These names are still being used to describe the section of the quarter that is being referred to. I believe that Williams Delight PR is in the eastern section of Prince quarter and Williams Delight WE is in the western section of WE. Williams Delight as an estate happens to be split between the the two quarters but is one "neighbourhood" area.

There is a map in print form only that gives the estates of StX. I got it last year from a real estate agent when I was on the island. You may want to call one and see if they will mail it to you.

there is a link on chris hanley's web site (he is a local real estate broker), the map shows all the estates, but does not indicate the quarters. www.chrishanley.com

Some of the same names are duplicated in different quarters. We have the same problem in St. Thomas as there are a lot of streets with the same name but different quarter. I see folks wandeing inmy neighborhood looking for the same two streets that are business office locations in another quarter! Not mine!
