Hey Everyone,

I will be on the island by December with my wife and now my brother is thinking of moving here so that he and I can pursue a new entrepreneurial idea. In the mean time, he was wanting to know how hard it is to get work doing manual labor or in the hospitality industry. He has experience waiting and he is great with his hands. I was just wondering if those types of jobs are readily available or if he would be waiting months to get something? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Raj H.

Skilled workers always find jobs. Service industry or not!

Ronnie,

Thanks for the reassurance. I will let my brother know.

You'd have an easier time finding work in hospitality if you came in October instead of December, because seasonal workers move here and take available jobs before December. However, there is enough turnover that you could find something. Just keep looking and asking and re-asking.

STXBob,

Thank you for letting me know. I myself have worked in the hospitality industry many times before and I know how high the turnover rate is for front of the house. My brother is pretty persistent, so I'll let him know what you said. Thanks again.
