Would like to consider my next visit to STT, a PMV, and therefore situate ourselves in the best suited area to see the real "living" side of the Island, but yet also need the proper accommodations one would expect for vacation.....any ideas for a hotel/rental etc with these things in mind?

Thanks

I have a vacation rental which is a studio apartment with pool, private deck, view, cable TV, linens, kitchenette. Special monthly rate and nightly rate is $80/night. You can see pictures at www.stthomasvirginisland.com

Thanks for the replies, so both of these recommendations reflect the needs i addressed? Also I'm assuming I should steer clear of the "normal touristy" resorts like Wyndam Sugar bay, & Sapphire bch etc as they wont reflect the real living feel of the Island Im looking for in a PMV?

Stay away from ALL of the resorts if you are sincere about your PMV . You need to stay in a simple apartment or condo that will be more like you might be living in full time on the island. If you will be able to afford a villa in the future, then stay in a villa, if you can only afford an apartment (+ - 1500 a month) then stay in an apartment.

Anything else will just be a vacation.

Huh? Your original post indicated that you wanted "proper accommodations one would expect on vacation". Point Pleasant offers long term occupancy with the "flavor" of a resort.

Secret Harbour has condo-like apartments. You can rent a one bedroom fully furnished. It has a full kitchen, eat in dining area and deck that faces the water. There are a number of people that live full-time there too. Plus the resort has a great restaurant and bar for when your after work hours!:) Secret Harbour is on the East End which is a popular area for newbies to check out. There are a lots of restaurants a couple of grocery stores, pharmacy, mail service, salon, ferry etc.

You look like a prime candidate for my PMV package I am trying to put together, as outlined below on another thread.

Ronnie....Yes i read that post, and it seems like a great idea! I for one wouldnt mind paying an experienced guide to show us the ropes (so to speak), at all......even if we stayed at a resort, we could spend a few days together driving the island, and learning everything . Besides that, what else would you offer? I think its a great idea.

My B & B is in the heart of the island, overlooking Charlotte Amaile. If, during your PMV, you wanted to go to the beach, they are all within 10 minutes any direction! I don't think you will get to know the island staying at a resort.

Matty,

Rates and pictures are available here:

http://www.crystalpalaceusvi.com/

http://villafairview.com/

Crystal Palace is short-term (nightly rates), Villa Fairview is longer-term (monthly/weekly rates).
