Hello to everyone!!!

I am a nail technician born and raised in NY relocated to Orlando 2 years ago with my husband, and now it looks like we will be relocating to STT by the end of Oct. I am extremly excited about living on the Island! I vacationed there about 8 years ago it was so beautiful.... but I know living there will be extremly different than a vacation, but still can't wait to get there. My husband has a job offer and will be going to check things out in on the 13th, I am not able to go with him 🙁 So I am hoping someone here may be able to help me with a few concerns. Are ther many salons/shops that offer nail services? Do you think it will be easy for me to find work there.... and what may be the procedure to switch my nail license over from florida? If anyone has any information for me I would greatly appreciate it 🙂 I will probably have a ton more questions to ask, but this and finding an apartment are top on the list!!! We are also trying to set up a few appointments to look at apartments while he is there, we will need a 1 bedroom that will allow a small dog on the west side. Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Mindy,

Go to : www.dlca.gov.vi

That is the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs. Just following the appropriate links, and you should find what you need.

Not too many nail shops on the west end, but you might not be too far from downtown, Crown Bay and Havensight. A lot of the resorts on island have spas that are very busy. In season, it can be hard to get an appointment. Most of the resorts are on the east end.

I think you can access our yellow pages online. You could just try to search, or maybe someone else can give you the web address. If you see something in the yellow pages of interest, come back here, and we can probably tell you what part of the island it is on, if it's nails only or a full service salon.

Good luck.

I know of a nail salon where the owner wants to sell the business or have someone take over it while she is off island. If you are interested let me know - you can email me at wheeler@attglobal.net or pm me. Donna

Thank you all so much for your quick responses!!! Juanita I am going to check the link out right now.....Donna I will contact you about this opportunity.

Next question... since there are alot of salons on the island, what is the average price range for nails? Do the salons that cater to tourists charge more? They do here in Orlando 🙂
