Roofing treatment

Hello there again everyone. Once again I have one of those new home ownership type questions. I have looked in the yellow pages and online, and there seem to be a TON of businesses that do roofing treatment.

My questions are
a. Is there a company that anyone has used that they would recommend?
b. Is there a price range for let's say a 1,000 square foot roof?

I was going to do it myself, but several people whom I am close to, and know my arms and legs don't work well told me I was being an idiot. Oh, well.

If anyone has any current suggestions, I would appreciate dipping into your wealth of knowledge. BTW: this is on St. Croix. I did do a search, but what I came up with was a bit dated.

Thank you once again. You have all been so wonderful that this first year has gone by with just such great success. Thank you for all of your help so far, and I promise that soon I will have gotten most of it down, and will make a point to share it with newcomers.

Warmest regards,

Dan

I think Roof Tops is the big layer over there. Good luck!

roof Tops are good, but can be a little pricey - they do quality work tho.

I meant big player over there. Dang keyboard.
Pricey they might be, but we are talking about a roof which is very important for catching water, and protecting a house during a storm. Would you like to fly to the moon on a rocket built by the lowest bidder?

Thank you so much! I have already put in a call to them, and I don't believe that the lowest or the highest bid is the best. I want my water to be as safe as possible, and to keep the roof well conditioned.

Thank you Ronnie and Jane. I did get a call from a private individual whom I will call back later, but I really was looking for a company that specializes in this, again as I would prefer that it is done correctly.

I don't know much, but if I can ever return your kindness, just let me know.

Warmly,

Dan

It isn't that difficult if you are not afraid of height! Gallows Bay hardware, KMart and most paint store carry the PVC roof coating paint. It is easy as falling off a log, only kidding! The material is usually about $10-15 per gallon most everywhere. The roof has to be clean, pressure blasted and dry for best results. I have done it with several properties that I have owned on the island, the more flat a roof is the better the coating has to be, if it is too steep, then hire somebody! That's my 2 cents.

According to the folks at The Paint Depot on STT, dry is absolutely critical. We've been waiting awhile for a completely dry weekend to do ours!
