Did you see the VI Daily News today? I guess I'm taking my rose colored glasses off. I was thinking maybe witness protection....swimming with the fishes....or some other explanation, other than Rosemary being a common thief. Seems she has a history going back to California, and she lied on every application about her criminal record, education, etc.

I liked Rosemary, thought of her as a solid person, had respect for her...WOW, did I get that one wrong!

I wonder if we'll every find out where she is.

I swear I feel like so many people here are running away from something there more than coming here. I've never interacted with more shady people in my life as I have done in the VI, and that's saying something coming from Washington D.C. (the Capital of shadiness)!

I've had my friendship betrayed like this by people here before and it really does make you question your radar about people sometimes.

While I agree with stiphy that in certain geographical locations you seem to find people running, hiding, or escaping things in their lives I think I have met up with just as many people in the states that have surprised me. But then again, I know many more people in the states than I have met on this island.

Sean,

I second that. I have been so disappointed in people here at times. I have worked around people all of my adult life. I am usually a VERY good judge of character, however, here I have been wrong more than ever before.

Apparently my radar isn't working right either.

HOWEVER,we have met some truely awesome people here who have helped us out when things were pretty bad. I am greatful for that. I am not sure that type of behavior would have happened in the states. So, I guess it balances out.

It is a huge disappointment when someone you trusted leaves you betrayed, hurt, jaw to the floor and angry.

I have not seen the recent news about Rosemary today, but whatever it is I am not surprised. Right after her flight from the Virgin Islands there were several articles about her 'business' behavior and history in the northeast. It appears that she is a career 'con-man' (woman). We have seen dozens, maybe hundreds of people like this over the past 10 or 20 years here. Out of the way places attract these kind of people. They think we are real simple and stupid. I have doubts about a bunch of the 'time share' and real estate people who have come and gone in my time. I'll bet that Marty can tell us (if he will) stories about some of these people.

I am a cynic,(ask my wife) about many things in life. I doubt politicians, bureaucrats, and Republicans...oh I forgot...lawyers and real estate agents too. Someday she will be caught and spend time in jail. But so what ...

Can anybody explain why the VI police reports don't include Stateside searches? Few people have a VI record, especially if they're new on the islands, but you would think that in such a transient place like the VI, there would be more concern with your "activities" before moving here, especially if you're handling other people's money/assets.

Any ideas to help others avoid being victims in transactions?
