Salvage title

I'm looking for info about getting a VI title on a rebuilt salvage vehicle. It was in a flood area, and was auctioned as a salvaged title in the states. A repair shop replaced all the electrical systems. The water was below the transmission/engine, and it runs and drives perfect. I want to ship it to STX, but don't know what to expect from DVM. Anyone had any experience? Thanks....

Call the DMV and ask.

What stage of the process is the title in? Usually a salvage car needs to be inspected before it is put back into the dmv systems. Is this a car that was just fixed or was it fixed a long time ago and already back on the road?

So you have salvage paperwork like a 907a but not a branded title right? Not sure if they do branded titles here but it might be worth taking the paperwork to dmv before shipping the car to be sure you are able to proceed. Maybe have one of the services do it as they seem able to make things go smooth.

You could bring an affidavid to the DMV saying you lost the original title.

They'll give you a new one no questions asked.

Im not sure this will work since the vehicle has never been titled or registered in the USVI.

Check with the shipping company. They will not take your car without a title of some kind.
