I had a guest in town over the NY holiday and decided to play a little tourist. I rented a room (C105) at Sapphire (local rate $225) and was delighted. The room was clean, newly renovated and very, very nice.

Had so much fun we decided to stay another night and were switched to A106 - not as nice but still very pleasant. With all the bad publicity they have had just wanted to add my two cents worth.

My friend also found a room at Bluebeards (405 in Pirates Pension) for $90 a night on Hotels.com. It was also newly renovated and very pleasant.

Their has be said much about the situation at Sapphire Resort ( I assuming that you mean Sapphire Resort and Not Crystal Cove). Some units are very good. Some are a little worse. And the grounds are well maintained but the legal situation is still going on. But more than that these are two very different locations. One you can walk to the beach. The other you can walk to town. Both have their advantages. And I am sure that there are some rooms at Bluebeards that are excellent while some may not be as good.

Remember that in BOTH cases the apartments are owned, in most part, by individuals who have different tastes.

I just glad that you were pleased with both locations.

Bill, yes I was pleasantly surprised with both locations. I am glad it worked out for my guest - and yes,I meant the resort.
