Seeking electrical work

Hi, I currently live in Atlanta, and have been looking for work on either STX or STT doing electrical work, but have found it a little difficult to get contact info on contractors. I was wondering if anyone on the board knows some of the larger electrical contractors, or perhaps the names of some larger general contractors I could contact. I've been leaning towards STX if I can find work and saw the Frederiksted Economic Revitalization Project is going on. Sent emails out with my resume attached, but no word. I'm wondering if I should look more on STT?? Anyone know of large projects going on or the names of some of the better contractors?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Steve

If you are an experienced electrician you will have no problem getting a good job. On St Croix Hovensa always needs very qualified workers and pays a fair wage with benefits. The local utility company also needs qualified workers, but does not pay quite as well. Local builders always need electricians for construction work.

Value your skills. Shop around. If you are good you will do well.

You will usually not be able to make contact from "off island".

Come on down and start talking to potential employers.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'd heard about Hovensa from someone on myspace.com. I'll definitely check into that, although I was thinking more along the lines of working with one of the better contractors there, doing a little commercial work, or maybe nice homes. Not going to be too picky, though.

I'm also thinking of trying to get down to knock on some doors, as well, but will make sure I have the funds to support myself before taking that leap. Just thought I'd get a feel for what's going on project wise so I'll know where to start.

Thanks again.
